Maintaining Laminate Floors
Cleaning Tips: Like hardwood, care must be taken on
laminate floors. Laminate flooring is designed to look great
for many years and is built to stand up to wear and tear.
Most laminates
need only vacuuming, dry mopping and periodic cleaning. A steam
mop is the ideal solution for laminate as it uses only water
and leaves floors dry and streak-free.
To remove grease, paint,
marker, rubber heel marks, use a mild cleaner and soft cloth
to buff out the mark. Remove fruit juice,
wine, beer, soda pop or pasta sauce with clean, warm water.
Maintenance Tips: Follow these tips to keep your laminate floors
in top shape.
- Keep area rugs in front of entryways to keep dirt and grit
to a minimum. Shake out entry rugs frequently.
- Vacuum, dust mop or sweep
frequently to remove grit that can cause scratching, which
dulls the floor over time.
- Do not use
a beater brush when vacuuming.
- Periodically move around
furniture and rugs to change traffic patterns. This minimizes
wear in high traffic areas.
- Keep felt
or soft cloth protectors on the bottom of furniture and
appliances.
